About Us
Elam & Co. began with a simple gift and a willingness to learn.
In 2026, Patricia received a sewing machine from Chris's mother, who has been sewing for all of his life. Patricia had always been interested in learning to sew, and before long she was creating her first projects, rag quilts for our grandchildren, tote bags for our daughters-in-law and a tissue holder for our grandson, Ezra, to clip to his backpack for school.
What started as a creative hobby quickly became something more.
As Patricia's skills grew, friends, family, and now market visitors began noticing the quality of her work. Her eye for fabrics, colors, and design helped transform simple sewing projects into beautiful, functional products that people genuinely wanted to own. That's when we decided to launch Elam & Co.
Family has always been at the heart of our business. In fact, one of our signature collections, KIALIYAH, is named after our granddaughters, Kiara and Aliyah. The KIALIYAH logo features two iconic Texas wildflowers—the Bluebonnet and the Indian Paintbrush. Each spring, these flowers bloom together across Texas fields and highways, creating one of the most recognizable and beautiful sights in our state.
Like our granddaughters, these flowers are bright, bold, and full of personality. Each one has its own unique beauty, yet they grow together—just like family. To us, they represent the joy, individuality, and love that Kiara and Aliyah bring into our lives.
Texas has become home to our family. Patricia was born and raised here in San Antonio, and Chris has called Texas home for more than three decades. This is where our family, our memories, and our business have taken root.
Those flowers represent more than Texas. They represent our family, our journey, and the values that guide everything we do.
Elam & Co. is proudly Texas-made. Every bag, purse, tote, and accessory we sell is handcrafted in our home. What began as a dining room sewing machine has grown into a family business dedicated to creating quality handmade products inspired by the people we love and the experiences we share together.
While Patricia creates every product by hand, Chris manages the behind-the-scenes operations, including the website, inventory, purchasing, and accounting. By day, Chris works in clinical research quality assurance, where attention to detail, consistency, and keeping your word are essential. Those same values guide everything we do at Elam & Co.
One thing that makes our products different is our focus on quilted construction. Many bags found at markets and made from a single layer of fabric. Our quilted bags include an additional layer of batting for structure and dimension, creating products that feel substantial, durable, and unique.
Our fabrics are sourced from local vendors, and much of our inspiration comes from Patricia's frequent visits to fabric stores, where she enjoys discovering new patterns, colors, and combinations. One of our favorite creations is the Country Harvest Carryall, inspired by the colors and imagery of a traditional farmers market filled with fresh fruits and vegetables. It's a practical grocery bag with a personality all its own.
We recently attended our first market and loved meeting customers face-to-face. Hearing what people like, learning about their preferences, and creating custom pieces are some of the most rewarding parts of what we do.
At Elam & Co., our goal is simple: to create quality handmade products at fair prices while making every customer feel valued and appreciated. We hope every customer leaves feeling seen, valued and appreciated, and confident that they received a quality product at a fair price.
We believe there is something special about an item made by hand. In a world increasingly driven by technology and mass production, handmade craftsmanship brings a level of care, creativity, and personal attention that machines simply cannot replicate.
When you purchase an Elam & Co. product, you're supporting a family business built around creativity, craftsmanship, quality, and the belief that the best things in life are made with care and shared with the people we love.
Thank you for supporting our small business. We are honored to be part of your story and look forward to creating something special for you.
Rooted in Texas. Inspired by family. Handmade with care.
